Poetry: October 2003

"The Final Stage"

Carpet making red indentations
Upon my sweaty tearful  face
Lifting my head slowly up to see
A bright light shining ahead of me

Massive flames all around my body
Burning the flesh and the hairs
My eyes squinting not by light
But focusing on the real truth finally

The doubts like a sweet song fading away
The pain now becoming what I accept
Knowing that I'll never be okay
Even though I'm the only one who does

Sick and tired with every breath
Realizing all the wasted years
Forgetting what is important in life
I walk slowly towards the light

Calmly reaching the light I turn around
Her face and those doubts drifting
Smiling sweetly at her face so proud
It fades away as she's not really there

I turn and face the light again
Sighing I slowly step into the blindness
The knife drops out of my hand
And a thump is heard from below
